The CSA is an umbrella organization of Canada’s 13 provincial and territorial securities regulators. The CSA operates a number of shared IT systems that serve as the primary interface between regulated entities and the provincial and territorial regulators. The applications SEDAR, SEDI and NRD together form the core CSA National Systems enabling issuers and their agents to file securities with the Canadian securities regulatory authorities, provide online access for insider trade reporting and provide online registration for dealers and advisors to file registration forms electronically with provincial securities regulators.
Users of the CSA National Systems include regulated entities (eg. securities industry professionals, investment firms, publicly-traded companies, insiders of public companies, filing agents), securities regulatory staff within CSA member jurisdictions, regulatory staff of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada, law enforcement agencies and other regulators, institutional investors and the public.
